Robert I have a Dell C521 here and a while ago I did a reformat..I installed all the drivers and updated them..Since that time everytime I scroll using either the scroll bar or the mouse, the pages do not scroll  smoothly..I also notice that I have to click on the "favourite" tab several times before the dropdown window appears..I almost always use IE8 but the same thing happens in firefox.

Just wondering if you think I need to update the video card driver.

Video card could be an issue for sure - download the install from http://www.belarc.com and run it. That will give you every detail about your computer that you probably didn't know. Dell has been known for using 10 different video chipsets in the same computer.

Other thing that can cause this is your desktop background - I've seen people with these hi res images and the system does alot of wonky things. Set your desktop background to none and try it.

Look for your video/graphics card on that description and get the latest drivers from dell.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=GuidedPathHomePage

enter your service tag and find the display driver to match what you have on belarc.

Did you remove any backgrounds?

I'm heading out to a clients but i'll be checking in periodically.

That worked perfect Thank you so much..

Now another problem but not near as serious

I seem to have to clik on the favourite tab forever before the dropdown window with the fav list opens. Sometimes I think it will never open again..Happens in both IE and firefox...Also I lost me AVG shortcut in my taskbar..I will go looking for that now lol.
